You Cannot Teach Someone Who Is Already Brimming With Talent How To Unearth That Talent Within Himself!
All you can do is give him the tools to help him “uncover” his own talent. That’s the purpose of this letter and this section. So, let’s get started. The first thing I want to talk about is how many people don’t even make an effort to market themselves properly. Listen: If you’re not getting any response from your direct mail, phone calls or personal appearances, it is NOT because your direct mail is not appealing. It’s NOT because your messages aren’t interesting. It’s NOT because your packaging isn’t inviting. No. The most likely reason is that you are not giving these “tools of the trade” the attention they deserve. Here’s a little secret:
All First-Class Mail Rejected By Postage Stamp!
Doesn’t matter if it’s a one-pager, a book, a report or what have you. If the post office doesn’t get a response, it flags your mail and throws it into the “reject” file. How big is that “reject” file? Hmn?
As Big As A Lake In Central Park! And guess what? Once again, it’s none of your damn business why they threw your mail into that “reject” file. You can speculate till the cows come home. But in the end, it really doesn’t matter why. What matters is… Your “Rejection” Hurts Just As Much (If Not More) Than When It Was Rejected For Being Uninteresting Or Unappealing! Listen up: Everyone who has anything to sell suffers from sales rejection. It’s a fact of life. No matter how good you are at what you do, no matter how hard you try or how much you invest. There will always be people who are more appealing to or capable of selling to than you.
